Congratulations to the high school Science Olympiad team on their 3rd place overall team finish at the Wisconsin State Tournament in April.  Boyceville won four events (Magnetic Levitation, Mousetrap Vehicle, Wind Power, Model This) and earned 19 total medals.

Congratulations to the middle school Science Olympiad team on their 11th place overall team finish at the Wisconsin State Tournament in April.  Boyceville won four events (Bottle Rockets, Junkyard Challenge, Towers, Storm the Castle) in the small school division and won 11 total medals.

The 4th Annual Boyceville Science Olympiad Invitational is only a few short weeks away, and final preparations are being made to accomodate 50 teams from dozens of schools around the Upper Midwest Region.  Nearly 1000 student competitors will converge on Boyceville on Saturday, December 18th and compete in 51 different events ranging from Disease Detectives to Helicopter construction and flying to Experimental Design.

Several VIPs will also be in attendance in Boyceville on December 18th including Van Valasky, a Co-Director for the 2011 National Science Olympiad Tournament at the University of Wisconsin, Dr. Forrest Schultz, the state director for Division C Science Olympiad in Wisconsin, and representatives from the Wisconsin State Department of Public Instruction.  It will be a great day for Science in Boyceville on December 18th and everyone is encouraged to attend!

All Science Olympiad students (MS and HS) are strongly encouraged to help out with one or both of our hot dog stand fundraiser activities at the CENEX store in Boyceville on the following dates:

Friday, June 25

Friday, August 13

The hot dog stand will be from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM and we need at least 5 students at all times for these events to be a success.  Remember, any students who work at least 4 hours either day will earn 1/2 off of their t-shirt price for next year.

Parents/friends/relatives are invited to come by as well, as we will be selling a hot dog and a can of soda or bottle of water for $2.00.  All proceeds benefit the Boyceville Science Olympiad and help pay for supplies, electronics, study resources, and other materials for the HS and MS teams.

To sign up for either day, please contact Mr. Hamm as soon as possible, including the time that you are available to work.  Remember…you do not need to work the entire day…shifts are OK as well!  Please let Mr. Hamm know if you have any questions.
