BOYCEVILLE – The Boyceville Middle School Science Olympiad Varsity team finished in fourth place overall the 38-team (19 school) Boyceville Science Olympiad Invitational Tournament also this past Saturday, defeating defending Minnesota state champion Chippewa Middle School from North Oaks, MN and defending Iowa state champion Ames MS. Boyceville MS only finished behind defending national champion team Daniel Wright from Lincolnshire, IL, Menomonie, and defending state champion Madison Hamilton Middle School.
Tournament champion gold medals were earned by seventh graders Kayden Benson and Shiloh Wheeldon in Crime Busters, ninth graders Ana Evenson and Tyra Kostman in Disease Detectives, ninth grade Cade Klefstad and eighth grader Nathan Corr in Scrambler, Hovercraft, and Wind Power, Cade Klefstad and eighth grader Brady Helland in Mission Possible, Nathan Corr and eighth grader Connor Sempf in Road Scholar, Helland and Sempf in Towers, and Nathan Corr and Helland in Wright Stuff. Gold medals were also earned by JV team members seventh graders Cadence Kurr and Jenna Goodell in Crime Busters and seventh graders John Klefstad and Preston Coombs in both Hovercraft and Scrambler.
Silver medals were earned by Evenson and ninth grader Noelle Wheeldon in both Dynamic Planet and Fast Facts, Noelle Wheeldon and Helland in Ecology, and Cade Klefstad and Sempf in Optics. Silver medals were also earned by JV team members seventh graders Lacota Brown and Madison Andrews in Towers.
Bronze medals were earned by Evenson, Kostman, and ninth grader Emma Bygd, Benson and Shiloh Wheeldon in Food Science, and Evenson and Kostman in Microbe Mission. Bronze medals were also earned by JV team members John Klefstad and Coombs in Towers and Madison Andrews and seventh grader Ali Ruhnke in Wind Power.
